1. I don’t have a Paypal account, can I still place an order?
Sure! We can process your order using a credit or debit card of your choice. After you place your order and click “Proceed to checkout”, look at the bottom left where it says “Don’t have a PayPal account? Use your credit card or bank account”. Click on the link and you should be on your way.
2. Can I ship to an address different from my billing address?
Click the Change link on the Review Your Payment screen.
3. I have a store and would like to be a purveyor of your fine, fine soap. Do you take wholesale orders?
Most certainly. Send us an email. We’ll get you a line sheet and answer any questions that you may have.
4. I would like my order shipped outside of the U.S. or the U.K. but that option was not available to me when I went to checkout.
Send an email with info on how many units (1 unit = 3 bars) you’d like to order plus where in the world you’d like it to go and we’ll get back to you asap with shipping info.
5. How long until my order ships?
We understand that you are probably buying Scrubya because you like our message, but we are also committed to giving you a handmade, high glycerin, vegetable-based, premium quality soap.
That’s why we will sell no soap until it’s dope (adjective, not noun).
Our soap is made in small quantities and then goes through a curing process before it’s ready for you to use. So while we do our best to get your orders out in 1-2 days, when a large number of orders comes in, our turn around time might extend to 3-5 days. As a Scrubya customer, you are not only ‘cleaning up’ after Dubya but supporting a unique, politically progressive, woman-owned cottage industry while you’re at it.
6. What’s in yer soap?
Our formula is completely vegetable based and contains about 50% olive oil, which does nice things for your largest organ. We then add coconut oil to make a fluffy lather as well as palm oil for its gentleness and to help create hard, long lasting bars. Depending on the formula, additional rich oils, butters, botanicals, clays and fragrances are then chosen to enrich the bars.
7. Do you test your soap on animals?
We test our soap solely on animals of the human variety.
8. Is there lye in your soap?
Lye is used to make our soap but it is not in the final product. Lye, or sodium hydroxide, is an alkali. When you mix an alkali with fatty acids, a chemical reaction called saponification, occurs. This chemical reaction creates soap and glycerin. At the end of the soapmaking process, there is no alkali left, just pure, gentle soap and glycerin.
9. I have sensitive skin. Can I use your soap?
Many people who have had problems using commercial soaps have had good luck using ours. However, if skin sensitivity is a concern, we recommend that you do a patch test first.
10. Will there be more products coming out of the Scrubya franchise?
That’s our plan, especially if a certain candidate wins the nomination of a certain party! Stay tuned for more on that soon!
11. What other organizations will you be supporting?
There are more organizations working to undo the deeds of Dubya than we could ever support. Physicians for Human Rights’ Campaign Against Torture is the first of several organizations to whom we will be donating all of our proceeds, and we plan to add two more to the line up by Valentine’s Day ‘08. More info on that in the weeks to come.
